The Life-Changing Laundry Schedule That Will Save Your Sanity (It Saved Mine!)

Can we talk about something real for a second? Laundry. Ugh, right? Sometimes it feels like the piles are out to get us. Your hampers are stuffed to the brim, there’s a mountain of clothes waiting to be folded, and before you’re done, another load has already creeped its way into the mix. It’s draining, overwhelming, and honestly? It makes you feel like you're completely losing the battle against your home. I get it. I’ve been there.
It’s easy to focus on all of that stress, on the chaos of it all. And when you do? That’s all you see. You wake up thinking about the laundry, you go to bed knowing it’s still staring at you, and it all just feels like too much. But here’s the thing, my friend. While it’s tempting to dwell on what’s wrong, on how messy and out of control things feel, we need to shift our focus. Because focusing on the problem only traps us there. What if we chose something else instead? What if we focused on the solution? That’s what I want to help you with today. Change the way you look at laundry, and this overwhelming chore can actually become something manageable. That doesn’t mean tackling every pile in a single day or striving for perfection (because who can keep up with that?). It’s about creating a realistic, simple system that keeps laundry from spiraling out of control—that helps you get ahead and stay ahead.
And here’s the solution I've found: following a laundry schedule. One small load a day to completion, six days a week. That’s it. One load at a time. No marathon sorting sessions. No hours spent folding and stressing late into the night. AND laundry is done in the correct order which prevents black fuzzies on your favorite white clothing.
This routine isn’t just about keeping clothes clean. It’s about reclaiming a little piece of sanity, a small win that gives you confidence. When laundry is no longer an endless battle, you’ll feel more in control of your home and your day. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about making life easier. You deserve that. We both do.

The Laundry Routine That Saved My Sanity
This simple routine has taken the overwhelming task of laundry and turned it into something I can actually manage. Here’s how it works:
Monday: Whites and Lights
Start your week off fresh by washing whites and lights. Use hot water with a whiten-and-brighten boost and fabric softener, then low dry. It sets the tone for your week with clean, crisp clothes!
Tuesday: Lingerie and Delicates (I do baby clothes on this day too!)
Take care of your special pieces on Tuesdays. Wash delicate items like lingerie or sweaters in cold water on a delicate/handwash setting (some items might even need to be hand-washed). Hang them up to dry, and you’re good to go!
Wednesday: Exercise Clothes , Socks, and Casual Undergarments
Midweek is for activewear and casual undergarments. Wash these in warm water on a delicate setting and dry them on ultra-low heat. Keeping these items fresh helps you power through the rest of your week.
Thursday: Darks
Our biggest load of the week! Wash dark clothing, like jeans and neutrals, in cold water (don’t forget to turn jeans inside out). Add a little fabric softener and dry on ultra-low heat. It’s a game changer for keeping your darks looking new.
Friday: Towels and Rags
Sanitized and freshened up for the weekend! Towels and rags get a hot water sanitize wash with a whiten-and-brighten boost. Dry these on regular heat for a fresh, fluffy finish.
Saturday: Sheets and Pillowcases
End your week with one of the best feelings in the world…clean sheets! Wash in warm water on a regular cycle, then tumble dry normally. There’s nothing like climbing into a crisp, clean bed after a long week.
